The pastorate incorporates Bitterne and Hedge End United Reformed Churches.  For details of Hedge End please see separate menu.

Bitterne United Reformed Church is sited in Bitterne, a busy suburb of Southampton.  Located in the local Bitterne shopping precinct in a unique position above an arcade of shops.  The local parish church is next door.  Free public car parking (2 and 5 hours) surrounds the precinct and is of great benefit to church goers.  The Red Lion public house is opposite the Church where good community links have been forged.  There is a leisure centre with swimming pool which is near to the library and Christ the King Roman Catholic Church.  The parish Church is Anglican and has formed a successful partnership with the local Methodist Church.  Bitterne URC enjoys good working and social relations with the LEP church and Christ the King.  A main Police Station is just a couple of hundred yards away from the Church.

The original Church building was demolished in 1982 to make way for major road improvements in the area.  The current building is now 28 years old having been extended to provide bigger and better catering facilities and room hire.

The Church has rooms available for hire during the week Monday to Friday and is already used by a variety of organisations.  Bitterne URC boasts a good reputation in respect of Health and Safety and cleanliness.

We try to be a welcoming and caring church with oversight for all members and friends carried out chiefly but not exclusively by the Elders.
